Malcesine, il borgo che incantò Goethe

La parte veneta si estende lungo la sponda orientale del lago, in provincia di Verona, e offre numerosi borghi e località da visitare, oltre a panorami ricchi di fascino.
È conosciuta anche come Riviera degli Ulivi e si caratterizza per la presenza di colline moreniche e del Monte Baldo, chiamato “Orto botanico d’Europa” per la sua ricchezza floristica, le cui vette si possono visitare grazie all’innovativa funivia.
Passeggiare tra i suggestivi porticcioli, i vivaci vicoli popolati da botteghe artigiane, piccole boutique, locali e ristoranti, sarà un’esperienza indimenticabile.
Tra i borghi più suggestivi affacciati sul lago, oltre a Peschiera, Lazise, Bardolino e Garda, va senz’altro menzionato Malcesine, dominato dall’elegante castello, angolo incantato che regala scorci panoramici indimenticabili. Romantica località adagiata sulla riva orientale del Lago di Garda e considerata la “perla del lago”, nel 2023 è entrata a far parte del Club dei Borghi più Belli d’Italia. Simbolo di Malcesine è il Castello Scaligero, che fatto erigere tra il 1277 e il 1387, svetta dallo sperone roccioso con la sua alta torre e oggi ospita un interessante Museo di storia naturale del Monte Baldo e del Garda. Inoltre, una delle sale propone una mostra permanente dedicata a Goethe, dove sono esposti alcuni disegni realizzati dal poeta in occasione del suo soggiorno gardesano. Giungendo invece al grazioso porticciolo si può ammirare il Palazzo dei Capitani, antica sede del Capitano del Lago, con le sue eleganti architetture di epoca veneziana. Da non perdere sono poi le ciclovie panoramiche del Trentino-Alto Adige e del Veneto, per i ciclisti tradizionali e quelli amanti della mountain bike. Mentre molti sport, a partire dalla vela possono essere praticati da grandi e piccini.
The Venetian part stretches along the eastern shore of the lake, in the province of Verona, and offers numerous villages and towns to visit, as well as fascinating views. It is also known as the Riviera degli Ulivi (Olive Tree Riviera) and is characterised by morainic hills and Mount Baldo, known as the “Botanical Garden of Europe” for its rich flora, whose peaks can be visited thanks to an innovative cable car. A stroll through the charming little ports, the lively alleys lined with craft shops, small boutiques, bars and restaurants will be an unforgettable experience. Among the most charming villages overlooking the lake, besides Peschiera, Lazise, Bardolino and Garda, Malcesine deserves to be mentioned, overlooked by its elegant castle, an enchanted corner offering unforgettable panoramic views. The romantic town on the eastern shore of Lake Garda, considered the “Pearl of the Lake”, has been a member of the Club dei Borghi più Belli d’Italia (Club of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy) since 2023. The symbol of Malcesine is the Scaligero Castle, built between 1277 and 1387, which stands out on the rocky spur with its high tower and now houses the interesting “Museum of Natural History of Mount Baldo and Lake Garda”. In one of the rooms there is also a permanent exhibition dedicated to Goethe, where you can see some of the drawings the German poet made during his stay on Lake Garda. Arriving at the picturesque little harbour, you can admire the Palazzo dei Capitani, the former residence of the Captain of the Lake, with its elegant Venetian architecture. Don’t miss the panoramic cycle paths of Trentino-Alto Adige and Veneto, both for traditional cyclists and mountain bikers. Many sports, including sailing, can be enjoyed by young and old alike.
